- Listen to a “Keep Your Wheels On” podcast.
- Teach a teenager to change a tyre.
- Do a First Aid Course.
- Talk about what to do if you’re involved in a crash.
- Practise driving online with myDRIVESCHOOL.
- Talk about the Fatal 5: texting, fatigue, speed, seat belts and intoxicated driving.
- Only buy cars with a 5 star ANCAP rating.
- Practice your reaction time with the emergency stop module in myDRIVESCHOOL.
- Check the oil and other fluids in the family car.
- Discuss the impact bad decisions can have on everyone.

2026 marked the launch of Youth Road Safety DAY, a national ‘CALL TO ACTION’ for everyone to DO SOMETHING about youth road safety. This event is held on April Fools day for a reason – we’re fooling ourselves if we think we’re supporting youth well enough in terms of road safety, the fatality rate of 18-20yo is double the national average.
